Making Online Content Accessible for All is an in-depth course designed to equip educators, instructional designers, and consultants with the skills to create and evaluate accessible digital content. 

 

Focusing on the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2), this course teaches practical strategies to make online courses usable for all learners, including those with disabilities.

 

Over six weeks, participants will explore best practices for ensuring accessibility through hands-on activities, scenarios, and evaluation tools.


Facilitated in D2L, in partnership with Dr. Luke Hobson’s Instructional Design Institute, with excellent resources, self-paced segments, weekly connections, and personal support. Learn in a safe space, join interactive weekly sessions, and network with peers.

This course introduces learners to the Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).  Utilize tools for accessibility evaluation and remediation. Facilitated by Dr. Nicole LEtoile.

Learning Objectives:

1. Apply the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 standards to design and evaluate digital content for accessibility.

2. Gain skills using digital tools to audit and remediate accessibility issues, aligning with standards and best practices.

3. Create a product that demonstrates proficiency in using the most common accessibility tools to ensure inclusive design practices.

  • This course is in time for anyone in a school district, state, or local government who has to ensure their organization’s web content and mobile apps comply with WCAG by April 2026 or April 2027.

What is the time commitment?

You can expect to dedicate 3-4 hours each week. Making Online Content Accessible is mainly asynchronous with having the assignments and activities due at the end of each week.

What does the learning experience look like?

There will be readings, videos, podcasts, scenario-based problems, case studies, practice questions, discussions, reflections, and journal entries.
Live sessions are held weekly on Mondays 7PM EST.
You are required to attend up to 50% of the time.
Sessions will be recorded and uploaded the following day.
